VACANCY AGENCY OPERATIONS OFFICER

Due to expanding our business in Ship Agency, which shall be offered through our subsidiary AML-Atlantis Maritime Agency Ltd, the company shall service clients of  both private and commercial yachts as well as merchant vessels which shall be calling Malta and those offshore.

AML is seeking to recruit an Agency Operations Officer to join the company on a full time basis. This is an exciting and challenging role which offers the ideal candidate growth opportunities with the company.   This post requires the candidate to work both at the office of the company as well as outdoors, and also to be willing to board vessels, as could be required by the job.  The candidate could also need to work after office hours and on weekends depending on vessels’ arrival times.  Such a role requires a person who is highly committed and responsible.

Duties Include

Some of the duties assigned with the post shall include but are not limited to:

  • Liaising with port authorities for importation and vessel clearance
  • Preparation of port clearance documents
  • PORTNET online system
  • Negotiating and placing orders with suppliers
  • Communication with vessels’ Owners/Representatives and Captains
  • Co-ordinating supplies such as bunker supplies, conveyances, supply boats, crew changes, tugs, pilotage, ships’ provisions, cash to master, repairs, drydocking and all the necessary as per vessels’ requirements
  • Liaising re berthing facilities, marinas, drydock
  • Handling vessels at Malta Freeport Terminals
  • Boarding vessels
  • Preparation of port disbursements
  • Debtors chasing
  • Other services associated with Ship Agency
  • Business development

 Experience and Skills required

The successful candidate must have the following pre-requisite skills and experience:

  • Prior experience in a similar role in Ship Agency
  • In depth Shipping knowledge
  • Business development skills
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Analytical and attentive to detail
  • Excellent planning and monitoring skills
  • Negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently and on own initiative
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Maltese
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Team player
