Today the 10th November, AML celebrates International Accounting Day. As a company AML has always encouraged and supported its accounting staff in order to progress in their careers, both from an academic point, as well as to obtain the necessary experience on the job of proper accounting practice. The characteristics of a good accountant is integrity and honesty, precision and a good eye for detail. Accurate accounting work is achieved through the understanding of the business of one’s clients and at AML we make this our number one priority.
The opportunities of accountants are endless, since accountants today are not just required to keep historical data but are involved in many areas of a business, be it for purposes of forecasting, budgetary preparation, vat, tax, compliance or audit. This therefore requires accountants to be abreast with the ever-changing laws and regulations. AML ensures this by supporting its staff through offering in-house training as well as sponsoring accountants in following Continuing Profession Education programmes. The continuous need to keep updated is a big challenge and is why most accountants these days choose areas of specialization as well as opt for specific industry sectors.
The Malta Institute of Accountants (MIA) is the voice of the accountants in Malta which provides professional guidance, technical support and continuing professional education. Below is a video which MIA have presented in order to encourage more students to take up accounting as their profession through a campaign they are running #AccountsForYou. Our Managing Director, Suzanne Brincat Dowdall, speaks about an accountant’s job and the advice she gives to future accountants.
We would like to wish all the accountants a Happy International Accounting Day and invite any accountants wishing to pursue a career in maritime accounting to get in touch with us!
