Today marks the International Maritime Organization’s Day of the Seafarer. A day which recognises that every seafarer’s journey is different, but that they all face similar challenges.
Every day, hundreds of thousands of seafarers are underway on ships transporting goods, while others take their well-deserved break – getting ready for their next voyage. Their ships are key movers of global trade, and engines of the global economy, transporting cargoes such as food, medicines, electronics and more.
Today we get the chance to pay tribute to seafarers everywhere, whatever their voyage, for their valuable contribution towards global trade. A job which requires high personal sacrifice, such as long-term separation from loved ones.
Thank you all seafarers!
